Over Bridge duet – video

A year ago, I took fellow singer Chloe Turpin to Over Bridge, to experience Site Singing with another person for the first time. The resulting text and audio is available here.

As and experiment on that trip, I made a video, which I have never previously done on a solo field trip. The footage, taken on an extremely lo-fi digital camera, sat on my hard disc until I just rediscovered it the other day. To further my experimenting with applying effects or treatments to some of the material generated from Site Singing, I made this video just to see what it would be like. The audio is duplicated and overlaid, with one version playing in reverse. I placed them as over arching each other so embedded in the sound is the idea of ‘crossing over’ a bridge in both directions, like when two people pass each other by. The drone of the cars from the modern bridge which replaced Telford’s stone bridge and made it this fascinating yet isolated and melancholy abandoned place, can also be clearly heard.
